There's a Corvette in here somewhere

The tail light panel was cut away from the car today and the long process of repairing the collision damage from long ago was started.

A thick layer of body filler has been scraped away from the repaired area, but there's plenty more where that came from.

The fiberglass beneath all of that filler is in very good condition. It's unclear why a surfacer and a thick layer of filler was used during the repair.

The bonding strips will be separated from what is left of the tail light panel and the rear will be prepared for the new panel. Then it will be time to cut away the damaged portion of the rear deck and replace it.
