The fiberglass and filler on the spoiler was 3/8-inch thick in places. Thankfully, the auto body repairman who performed this marvel of a repair decades ago did not bother to scuff the gelcoat beforehand, so this all peeled off with very little effort.
A pile of debris beneath the car after a bit of time with a heat gun and a scraper grew quickly and there is so more to come.
Damage to the rear deck is not that substantial so it's tempting to repair it instead of cut this panel apart and put in a patch panel, but the breaks are in the geometry of the spoiler. This is a place on the car that eyeballs gather so it has to be a near perfect repair. That would be difficult in these curves and lines of the spoiler, so it's probably wise to cut all of this out and replace it.
