It's the heat AND the humidity
Some holidays in the paint on the anti-theft alarm horn were covered up as the windshield wiper door mechanism was painted. This horn does not work but is quite rare even in this condition. Eventually a functional one will be located. Until then, this one will have to do.
The replacement hinge for the rear compartment came in the mail today. It's not in perfect shape and required some tinkering to get it straight so it will open and close without Herculean effort.
Again, it's too hot to paint after 8 a.m. or so, requiring an early-morning painting session tomorrow to get these painted Dark Saddle Tan.
A best guess is that these were dyed with the plastic frame and not painted separately, but this car is a little over restored at this point so why not?
The rusty original door latch bezels were media blasted and primed and will be painted along with the hinges.
Also getting ready for paint is the core support. Some light rust at the welds was removed and the entire assembly was scuffed in preparation for paint. This gets the same medium-luster black paint that most of the car's parts receives.
This part takes a lot of abuse so it will be prepared with epoxy primer in the morning before time is spent to sand the primer Saturday and get ready to paint it Sunday morning.
