It's time to start the probably long process of restoring the transmission.
This thing is filthy and though this car only has 64,000 miles or so, this will undoubtedly need some internal parts replaced.
This has been degreased, pressure washed and disassembled as much as can be without knowing how to take it apart correctly.Already there are two parts that are clearly worn. What must be a reverse gear has huge chips in it and an associated shim is badly damaged.
There is a very knowledgeable man who wrote a book about these transmissions and has made a series of videos available on the internet that will be a source of information for this job.
His book is clearly worth every dime.
So it's time for school in a sense and then this can be disassembled, cleaned, repaired and assembled.
The oil in the transmission is very low and burnt, so there has to be more wear than would be expected in a low-mileage transmission, but a medium rebuild kit should get all of that taken care of.
