The channel of the birdcage that sits atop the frame was sandblasted to prepare it for paint. This was an extremely unpleasant and messy job, but it turned out well.
Once it was blasted, the remaining rust was treated with a rust converter.
There was sand and dust everywhere afterwards, requiring the use of a backpack blower to clean out the shop.
