It was definitely the right call to blend the panels and make the door meet up to the body correctly, despite the fact that it is now going to be much better than it was from the factory. After so much effort, this car might as well be as nice as is possible.
For a little while, the door was sealed shut with glazing putty in a move that would make the boys from Hazard County proud. The correction overall was quite minor, never requiring much filler, but the result is dramatic. This should look flawless with the door closed and produce a consistent reflection across the panels.
