Runs, drips AND errors

Most of the parts for the fuel tank are finally together and ready for some assembly. There are still a few items to get, but the tank assembly itself can be put together.

These tanks bear a hallmark of A.O. Anderson Company which manufactured the tanks and the frame. A tank without that hallmark is readily available and rather inexpensive, but finding one with that mark is difficult and of course expensive.

The new tank of course is one of the latter and it bears a stamping identical to the original, seen here.

Truth be told, unless someone pulls down the spare tire carrier, the spare tire and the upper spare tire carrier, this marking cannot be seen.

The tank was painted with a stencil to give it its destination and part number, presumably to help GM organized its parts once they arrived. A little research yielded this result and with some attention to sloppiness it's been painted on there.

Fuel lines, correct hose clamps and the overflow drain hose will be added later along with the straps and all of the rubber parts that go with them soon, but it's looking great.

The filler neck was very expensive, but despite this it's not a very good part. The fit is not great and getting the fuel cap on is a struggle. Some tinkering with a hammer and punch will probably be in order to correct this.
