The cast iron nose of the starter is assembled and freshly Parkerized in a very nice gray, the through bolts have been electroplated and the really cool brown-capped solenoid is installed and sealed onto the nose. Now all that needs to be done is to restore the motor housing. A set of field coils will be ordered and the housing will be media blasted and painted.
Two of the four distinctive field coil machine screws were saved and another two new old stock screws were sourced online.
These were really stuck, but some heat and a week of penetrating oil and two came out. The others had to be removed by welding a nut to them and running them out with a big impact gun.
Once everything is ready, this can be reassembled.
