Sacrilege

After masking with several layers of masking and packing tape to protect the chrome plating, the two areas on the front bumperettes that are meant to be painted were media-blasted and primed with epoxy primer. With some luck, the blasting will give the part some tooth for the primer to stick to so it won't flake off.

It seemed like a real sacrilege to blast such a lovely bit of chrome, but once painted as they were by GM these are going to look even better.

Once these are painted with the rattle can that matches the factory color perfectly, this will get a coat of clear coat to give it some durablility.

There will have to be some experimentation to ensure this paint won't react with the clear coat and that the clear will harden with the matting agent on hand.
