Acid

The battery compartment is heavily damaged by battery acid and must be repaired. There are several pieces of metal that are riveted to the floor of the compartment that allow the battery to be secured to the floor that must be replaced as well.

This is all that is left of the clamp and bolt that holds the battery down and keeps it from sliding around inside the compartment.

One method to repair this is to clean it up, sand it back to good fiberglass and make a probably messy repair with fiberglass mat.

The better method is to get a new compartment floor sectioned out of a parts car and replace this one. That's clearly what needs to happen.
