Not surprised
The right door was a challenge to restore. Rust damage required welding in a patch panel to repair it. There was hope that the left door would require no metal work, but the lower portion of the shell is rusted through along the entire length of the door.
It's a good thing that the donor door was kept for just such a repair.
The door was stripped down and the door skin was separated from the shell using a heat gun and a putty knife.
The donor door is a mirror opposite of this door so it's not as straightforward as cutting out the lower portion of the shell and welding it to this shell, but the parts are similar enough to make this possible. With a little work, this should be a very nice repair.
