All day
By day's end, the fiberglass tub and metal frame of the spare tire carrier were repaired and primed. Both were in really rotten shape after taking a lot of abuse over the years and required a lot of time to repair.
Fiberglass mat was added to repair the huge cracks in the tub before the process to smooth out the repairs and scratches began.
There were several rounds of fiberglass filler until all of the scratches were filled and the repair was covered.
The metal frame was difficult to media blast given its size and also had to be repaired since it bore deep scratches from dragging on the ground.
These two parts have come a LONG way in the past few days.
Tomorrow, these two will be painted. The tub will be painted a flat matte black while the frame will be painted a true matte black.
Once they cure and a aircraft rivet set is purchased, these can be riveted back together.
