Roll pins galore
The parking brake is next in the queue to be restored. This entire assembly is reproduced in the aftermarket, but one can also just buy the chrome handle separately. That seems to be the most logical move and will allow for the restoration of the rest of the assembly.
As good as the reproduction might be, it's doubtful it will be as good as the original and there's really nothing wrong with the assembly. It's just rusty.
This assembly was removed from the car and the two roll pins that hold it all together were driven out.
Most of the assembly will be Parkerized black, but there are a few parts that are zinc plated. Those, seen to the right, were soaked in rust converter, polished and electroplated. There are still a few small parts that remain to be electroplated. Those will be finished tomorrow.
The chrome handle will be ordered soon along with manganese black Parkerizing solution so this can be completed.
