What passes for emissions control

The evaporative emission control system is very nearly the only emissions control this car has. This charcoal canister captures and stores fuel vapor from the fuel tank until it can be burned by the car's engine.

This part is of course obsolete and is something that has to be restored. The plastic was cleaned and polished as best as could be done while the metal bracket was media blasted and painted. The hardware was restored as well.

From reading some on Corvette message boards, these can be refilled with fresh charcoal from an aquarium supply store to make them work as new again. There is a filter at the bottom that is still available from GM as well.

More will be done in the future to polish the plastic container to improve its appearance, but for now it looks really nice.
