It was clear that there was going to be rust in the rocker channel by just looking at the car. It's bad enough on the right side to require a sectioned repair which means more welding.
One would think that a discovery like this would be a disappointment, but this was good news in a weird way. It's difficult to explain. The reason for this project is to see if it can be done, not to get it done. This is simply one more challenge and one more opportunity. There's probably a proverb that says that better than that, but that's basically it.
The rust is not that bad, but the repair that is easiest and that will give the best results is the one that involves cutting it all out in one piece and replacing it.
Repair panels that are available don't have the right contour, but a used panel from a frame-cut car are available.
