cArcheology

One part of restoring a car that is fun is the research one has to do to figure out how things on the car are supposed to appear and how the car looked when it was new.

The front coil springs were left unfinished after they were hot rolled, so they will be sandblasted and painted to look like cast, hot-rolled steel.

They also bore a green part number tag at about halfway along their length.

There are remnants of them both still attached on the springs. A little bit of cleaning shows they had the letters HS and a part number.

Not surprisingly, these are something that have been made available in the aftermarket.
From a simple comparison, these are exact reproductions and will look great once they are installed.

This weekend, these will be refinished and set aside for the installation of the front suspension, which hopefully will happen sooner rather than later.
