Wet sand

Through a rainstorm, the back half of the frame was sandblasted until, inevitably, the sand inside the sandblasting pot got damp enough to gum up the works.

The goal was to get the entire back half blasted today, but the trouble with the moisture in the sand kept that from happening.

There was one stamping that was revealed on the crossmember that supports the rear differential.

Rust pitting was very minimal on the frame that was blasted today and the results are really nice.

Once it became obvious that it was time to stop and try again on a dryer day, the bare metal was treated with SEM's Rust Mort as per last week.

That should keep the bare metal from flash rusting and convert whatever rust that was not removed by the sandblaster.

There is always one place that is the most satisfying to blast and on this project it was this joint which lies beneath the lock pillars of the car. This is a spot that is an infamous place to find rust on these cars, but this frame is just like new now that the surface rust and old paint has been removed.

This makes the idea of having this finally under new paint even more exciting.
