Messy

The body was painted on a cart at the factory in 1971, so there was a lot of overspray that would be impossible to have occurred had it been painted on the frame - specifically, under the frame rails of the birdcage where the frame would have blocked overspray.

The results look right, but it is so painful to try to be messy after spending so much effort trying to get everything perfect and straight.

Also painted were the strut rods. These were left natural cast iron by General Motors, so these were painted a flat metallic iron color to replicate that finish without allowing them to rust.
