Some long-ago collision damage over the left rear wheel opening led to this repair. It's full of body filler — way more than it ever needed.
With some tape to protect the body style line in place, the extra filler was removed by sanding with 80-grit sand paper.
The trouble with this is it occurs in one of the most complicated curves on the car, to sanding this back while retaining the correct lines and covering the damage below it all is going to be difficult.
After about an hour of sanding, the borders of the repair became visible. This made sanding a bit easier.
After the waves of the quarter panel were out, the process of applying glazing putty and block-sanding with 180-grit paper begins.
The repair left the wheel opening with several bad lines in it, so once the panel is flat and the low spots filled, the process of truing up the wheel opening will begin.
