Industrial paint

The header rail came painted with an industrial paint that, while it looks good, isn't very good at keeping rust at bay. This sort of paint doesn't use a primer and doesn't perform well in places like this.

Though this car will live a life of luxury, it will be washed etc. from time to time. If this gets wet at all, the top vinyl will keep it from drying fully and it could easily rust. That's why it rusted out in the first place.

After a bit of time with a sander, this got a good coat of epoxy primer.

The reverse side will get the same treatment once this cures.
