The rear glass was installed with a modern 3M windshield urethane adhesive rather than the tar-like butyl tape that was used in 1971. Originality is important in this project, but there is no denying how superior this modern urethane windshield adhesive is.
A professional installer makes bonding in automotive glass look easy, but it is anything but.
Unfortunately, too much urethane was used. Unlike a piece of glass on a modern car, the bead of sealant holding the glass onto the hard top is visible and isn't hidden behind any sort of trim. After a long process of removing the excess with lacquer thinner, this got cleaned up.
Even with all of that, the result looks really good and should be a strong seal.
