The C07 option

Next up is the removable hardtop, option code C07. This top is not original to the car, but was given to the previous owner after a friend wrecked his 1973 convertible and had this sitting safely in a garage. It came with the car and fits up nicely, though the glass is dated to a 1973.

That said, it's a really nice option and will be nice to have on this car.

The shell is currently painted body color, but will be given a black vinyl covering, the C08 option code, instead. To the eye of this restorer, this looks so good once it's on the car. Even better is the Dark Saddle Tan headliner that will be installed. This should look really nice once it's done.

Though this hardtop is rough, it's 100 percent complete down to some really rare and fragile soft parts. Most of the components to this are not available, even in the aftermarket. Yet, enough of the bits that show are available to make this more doable that was previously thought. That said, parts for this top are incredibly expensive and there are more than four pages devoted to its construction in the assembly manual.

First is to finish the seats (still waiting for the hinges to come back from the chrome shop) but this is not far behind.

Oddly enough, one very close in color came up for sale recently and though it is in rough shape and the headliner shows a lot of overspray from being dyed at some point, it gives an idea of what this will look like once it's done.

Looks like this seller actually has two.
