Looking around for something to make this part from, the best candidate was this mower deck from a YT16 Ford lawn tractor. The white patch is a paper pattern taken from the part that is being replaced.
It's the dream of every Ford to donate some flesh to repair a Chevrolet.
This part was cut to size, rolled to give it a bend where it needs to be and holes were drilled in the right places using a pattern taken from the original parts.
After that, the nuts were welded onto the bottom to allow for the attachment of the seat belt guide.
Once it was adjusted and in the right position, this was welded to the birdcage and prepped for primer.
