Rivet pop

A common problem with early 1968-1982 Corvettes is the row of rivets that hold this reinforcement in place corrode and swell, causing lumps to show in the painted hood surround panel. Many swear that these rivets are aluminum, but the ones in my car appeared to be steel.

To fix this correctly, the rivets are excised as was illustrated in an earlier post. Now the reinforcement is bonded onto the car with panel bond.
