Wood

The tedious and sometimes back-breaking work of restoring the front clip continues in between working on a big yellow Jeep CJ7 and a few lawnmowers that have made their way into the shop.

A big crack in the fiberglass was repaired today along with a few nicks, cracks and missing pieces of the hood surround and fenders.

Dad, a woodworker, would be so proud to see the wood clamps finally used to hold wood.

Well, sort of.

The break left the lower portion of the left fender crooked, requiring a split of sorts before the crack was drilled out, feathered and finally repaired with fiberglass mat.

The resulting repair looks good and will be augmented with a lot more fiberglass mat on the backside once this fully cures.

There are a few thin spots that will have to be reenforced and a few holes that were wallowed out by a previous owner will have to be filled and drilled again.

The right wheel well was scraped to remove dirt and a thick layer of spray undercoating, which is easily the most hated thing for anyone restoring a car.
