SMC

Time to add one of the two tangs to the bottom of the rear wheel openings that are missing on this car. This allows the attachment of the rocker panel garnish moulding. A piece of a right rear quarter panel was found for cheap online. It's not an exact fit, but it's really close and will work fine.

Most people know that Corvettes are made of fiberglass, or were until just recently. In 1973, they began to be made from sheet moulding compound or SMC fiberglass. It's made with similar materials, but in a different process that involves pressure and a few additives in the epoxy. Some say that it can't be repaired, but that's silly. It's still fiberglass and with some grinding, the glass can be exposed and bonded to a repair section.

This piece will be sectioned and added to the car. I expect this to be tedious but that it will look great when it's done.
