Layers

This is the cowl grille that is installed just behind the hood of the car. It's a beautiful cast aluminum part that was so difficult to strip. There were layer upon layer of paint that looked like it had been applied with a spoon in the dark.

After several rounds of chemical paint stripper and an hour or more in the blast cabinet, it was finally ready for primer. All of the lines are finally crisp and sharp.

A casting error (seen in the inset photo) was erased with some glazing putty, but it was tempting to leave it since that's how it was when the car was new.

This will get a coat of green for the underside and then be put away for when the car is painted.
