Big step

The door shell received a bit of seam sealer before being jamb-painted today. This color is so nice and should look amazing once everything is painted.

With the doors closed in the shop and the floor wet with water, there were only three tiny nibs — bugs, probably — to deal with.

Each session of painting comes with its share of lessons. Next time, if the epoxy primer is sanded through, rattle-can primer can't be used to cover up the exposed metal. It reacts with the base coat. Even with the overhead light on, mistakes are made because it's still so difficult to see. When it comes time to paint the car, several LED work lights will need to be setup to improve the ability to see and judge the surface of the car.

With the time that was left in the day, a few more door parts were electroplated.

The long list of expensive parts that are needed for this particular project will delay its completion, but they will slowly be collected.

The parts that have been restored look really nice, however. Next weekend, the parts of the door that were painted black at the factory will be painted along with the two access panels.
