Getting there
Though it probably doesn't look like it, a lot of work was accomplished to ready the firewall for paint. There are several steel reinforcements that were covered in rust that had to be dealt with as each piece of fiberglass was sanded.
The pleasant surprise seeing how little rust there is in the forward body mounts. Given how much rust was in the windshield frame and birdcage, it was amazing to see nothing but surface rust on these very important structural pieces. There was still black paint from the factory on both and they show not even the least amount of pitting.
When the body mount bolts were removed, there was no rust damage at all beneath the bolt heads, which was great to find. Once painted, these will look new.
This project was due some good surprises with regards to rust.
