This is the sort of part that is very difficult to restore. Its disassembly and reassembly are a challenge with opaque technical drawings and there are so many rare parts to find. To get around this, the are very often rattle-can painted instead of being properly disassembled, plated, painted and reassembled with new bearings and soft parts. It's easy to chuckle when a car at a car show shows signs of this, but after doing one it's a little easier to forgive that sort of thing.
The shafts and small parts are all newly plated along with the mounts for the column housing. Once the rest of the housing is media blasted and painted next week, and a few odds and ends are ordered and received, it can be reassembled. Painting the end back to factory Dark Saddle Tan will be another challenge.
