
The main shaft, on the other hand, is completely ruined. The teeth for the tachometer-drive gear are smashed after a brass bushing failed for the pinion gear and forced the pinion into the shaft. Amazing that the pinion itself is in great shape. With a new main shaft, this can be reassembled. After the oil well is filled and sealed, a new rotor and the impossible-to-find distributor cap need to be purchased.
This was a quick restoration. Next up is the tilt/tele steering column and steering wheel.
