Microfarad

This capacitor was hanging in the tangled, mouse-chewed wiring harness behind the dashboard of the car. Like the one on the blower motor, it is there to prevent the radio from buzzing when the brake pedal is pressed and the brake lights come on. It slips into the plug on the brake pedal switch.

Since the car is fiberglass and not metal, electrical fields travel freely throughout the car and play havoc with the radio. There is probably one for the turn signals as well, but it hasn't surfaced yet.

The contacts had fallen off long ago, but with a sheet of 0.010 brass new ones were made and soldered on.
